About PuzzleVuzzle

PuzzleVuzzle is an independent puzzle site, run by a small team of developers and puzzle enthusiasts. We create logic, word and number based puzzles that you can play in your browser for free. There is no need to create an account or download anything. You can start playing from the complete list given on the games page.

Why we built it

We play puzzles every day, and we often face the same problems. The game board was often hidden behind menus, sign-up pages or pop-ups, and only a few types of puzzles recurred in different forms. PuzzleVuzzle is our solution to this problem: the game board is the most important here, it loads in seconds on a phone or laptop, and every game has its own rules and unique way of thinking.

How our puzzles are made

A puzzle is only fun if it's fair. We write our own generators and checking tools, and we test the boards before they go live:

  • Kakuro and Nonogram: Every grid in the catalog is run by our own solver. The solver has to complete it using only logic without making any guesses. It proves that the puzzle has exactly one solution, and the techniques required by the solver determine the difficulty level.
  • Cryptograms: The quotes come from public-domain collections. Each time you open a puzzle, the letters are scrambled with a fresh substitution cipher in which no letter ever reveals its meaning, so the same quote never looks the same twice. The answer remains on our server until you solve it.
  • Fill-Ins: Every grid is checked by our validation scripts before adding, so the word list fills every slot on the board and all words are connected to each other.
  • Word Wheel and Tangram: Levels are created with our own level-building tools, so the difficulty increases gradually from level to level.
  • Word Search, Number Search and other games: The board is generated anew every time, so there's always a new one to play.

Free to play, and how we pay for it

Every game is free. You don't need an account, and your progress, best times, coins and streaks are stored on your own device, not on our servers. Hints cost coins you earn by playing, never real money, and nothing ever locks the board. Advertising helps us pay for hosting and development. Our privacy policy explains what data is used and why, and the terms and conditions cover the terms of use.

Languages

The site is available in English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. Logic and number games work similarly in every language. Word Search, Word Wheel, Fill-Ins and Cryptograms currently use English words and quotes.
